Mürren is a small village located in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. It is situated at an altitude of 1,650 meters (5,410 ft) above sea level in the valley of the Weisse Lütschine River. The village is accessible by road and rail from Interlaken. It is a car-free village, except for service vehicles. Mürren lies on a terrace above the Lauterbrunnen valley with commanding views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau massifs. The Schilthorn rises directly behind the village to a height of 2,970 meters (9,740 ft). There are numerous walking and hiking trails in the area. In winter there are over 50 kilometers (31 mi) of cross-country ski trails. Mürren is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Jungfrau massif, which includes the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks. The village has several hotels and restaurants, as well as a cable car station and a ski area.
